Christ Missionary Outreach

The journey to what we have today as Christ Missionary Outreach Ministries  began on the 6th September 1990 when the Lord called Bitrus Audu and his wife Monica into rural missions.

This was through an encounter in a dream in which the Lord took Bitrus to a mountaintop  showing him people living in darkness in remote villages and hamlets of all kinds of geographical locations.

The angelic being who brought Bitrus on top of the mountain said to him “This is Gongola State” (now Adamawa) and pointing to several directions he said to Bitrus ” Many people need my word there”. Then a powerful light came down from heaven and Bitrus heard a voice in the light saying to him:” I will bring you here as a Missionary ” .

Bitrus was then led to read Romans 10: 14-15,which says: “How, then, can they call on the  one they have believed in? and how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?

As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! Reading this passage brought a strong conviction to the hearts of Bitrus and Monica.

Therefore, in obedience to the vision they resigned their jobs in Jos and moved to Gongola ( Adamawa) where they lived and worked as missionaries for six years among the Zah People on the Mandara Mountains.

It was on this mountains that the work of Christ Missionary Outreach Ministry started. Presently, through God’s continuous guidance the work has spread out beyond the ZAH  people to other tribes within and outside Nigeria.

Following the success the Lord gave them, a mission board of committed Christian brethren across Nigeria was constituted and Christ Missionary Outreach Ministry was therefore established and incorporated.

Specific Gifting Areas Identified for Support:

  • Kamwe People.  Especially during the terror under Boko haram, the Kamwe people were suffering and CMO’s help to them was timely and vital.  We thank tireless Bible translator Dr. Roger Mohrlang for his help in this area, where he has translated scripture into Housa.
  • Land Development.  CMO has acquired land to eventually build a ministry center in Jos.
  • Dr. Belo Misal.  A friend of CMO, Dr. Misal, has given so much to ministry in this area of NE Nigeria.

THE PREMISE OF GRATITUDE

“Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”

Psalm 100 : 3 [NIV]

Gratitude is the deepest form of worship. And to worship, is to ascribe worth or pay homage. In worship, sometimes we are bowed down, kneeling, prostrating, singing, dancing etc., and sometimes we express a blend of all of these forms. However, no matter what form it takes, a central part of any true form of worship is gratitude. When we understand the premise of gratitude in worship, it spurs us to a deeper place that scratches way beyond the surface. Sadly, sometimes we are robbed of this deep experience in worship when we miss or are unable to define the premise of gratitude.

So what is the premise of our gratitude in worship? One is the knowledge that THE LORD IS GOD. The primary meaning of the word “Lord” is Owner. Therefore, to “know that the Lord is God” means to acknowledge or to agree that the owner of everything is God.  “It is he who made us” and everything that we have, see and enjoy. “We are his people, the sheep of his pasture lands of bountiful care/blessings of life. God owns us because he made us! We don’t own ourselves.  Therefore, glory belongs to him (Romans 11:36). A second premise for our gratitude is BECAUSE THE LORD IS GOOD TO US. We express gratitude because He loves us and his love endures forever and his faithfulness continues through all generations. He demonstrated his love to us while we were yet sinners, even to the point of death (Romans 5:8). As such we acknowledge His goodness and admit that it is for His mercy sake that we are not consumed.

And so in this newsletter, we would like to share our gratitude to God for a wonderful year 2021, and also share our gratitude for you our partner, for your role in the work the Lord has entrusted to us. It has been for us, a glorious work in spite of challenges. We are thankful for your time, financial support, visits and the many other ways you have encouraged us. We are grateful for new fields, staff, outreaches, protection, provision, programs, safety in travels and so much more.

ZION HILLS SCHOOL BUILDING

One of the things we are grateful for this year, is the donation of a block of classrooms in Zion HillsZion Hills is the name given to the range of mountains which CMO has acquired for the purpose of a retreat and training center on the outskirt of Jos Plateau state.

We are thankful to God for the completion and full furnishing of the Classrooms which took about 6 weeks to complete and stands as the first building on the property, with 2 classrooms and 1 administrative office. With the completion of the building which can accommodate 50/60 students, a new school will begin in January 2022,with a few students. We desire to give scholarship to 25 kids within the host community (Zukku). This will be the pioneer set of the school.

Additionally, we are grateful for the completion of a master plan, as well as the security of the area/community around Zion Hills.

GROWTH IN KODE DUTSE MISSION SCHOOL

The CMO mission school in Kode Dutse has experienced growth as the students have grown from 40 to over 100 students. The ministry employed a new full-time teacher for the school, Ezekiel Jankai, who serves also as a pastor within the community. Thanks to donations received, a block of classrooms has been erected for the school and has been roofed. However, there is still need for chairs and tables/desks, white/black boards, textbooks, school uniforms, and more staff. The school still has tremendous prospect for growth and serves as an avenue for discipling the nations.

MOT GOMBE

The Missionary Outreach Team (MOT) is a core part of CMO’s strategy to reach the un-reached with the gospel. While the work of the field pastors and missionaries posted to the fields continues, the MOT is set up as a back up or support for the work among the people. In recent times, we have experienced an expansion of the team with 2 new branches being inaugurated in Jalingo and Gombe areas, in October. The purpose of the MOT in these areas is to encourage believers to see the urgency in carrying out missions and to raise a workforce for the North Eastern region of CMO.

MISSION LEADRES/WORKERS SEMINAR IN KALTUNGO GOMBE STATE

We consider effective training of workers and leaders to be very key to missions. Therefore, we have been carrying out many trainings of volunteer workers, staff, and leaders. This is done through our mission seminars and trainings one of which was held in Kaltungo, Gombe state with the theme focusing on ‘Transformational Leadership’.

URVEY IN BAUCHI STATE

Five villages around the Palu area of Bauchi state, including Jawur village, and other hamlets spread around have been surveyed as possible new fields within the state. These areas are African traditional communities with no basic amenities. Kindly pray for the Lord’s leading, that He will prepare the hearts of the people, and that His word will prosper in the land.

RELIEF OUTREACH TO MIANGO COMMUNITY

Miango community (a town in Bassa local government area of Plateau State, Nigeria) has been plagued by attacks from Fulani tribesmen who destroy farms by leading their cattle to graze on crop farms, burn down homes and kill villagers. CMO received support for the purpose of providing food items which was an immediate need for the community.
The outreach was delayed for about two weeks due to a major unrest that occurred resulting in the killing of many people and the imposition of 24 hour curfew, twice. The second curfew was temporarily lifted on August 30, 2021 leaving a 12-hour window for people to get supplies. This window afforded the CMO team the opportunity to go into the Miango Community to deliver the needed food items to the community.

JOINT LEADERSHIP RETREAT AND GRADUATION OF GENERATION 9 IN OCTOBER

The Journey Nigeria held a joint retreat for the 9th and 10th Generations, with participants who came from different parts of Nigeria, including alumni. The retreat revolved around the theme ‘Dressed ready for service’ taken from Luke 12:35. Some of the sessions led by faculty from Nigeria and Leadership Institute in California included ‘Work as Worship’ by Jim Sailer, Paul Jensen spoke on the theme, focusing on Colossians 3:1-17. Craig Bab spoke on ‘The process of spiritual formation of Leaders. This retreat also marked the graduation of the Generation 9 who have completed 6 contacts in 2 years. The director, Re. DR Bitrus Audu gave teachings from Luke 12.

LEADERSHIP RETREAT IN ABUJA

One of the major strategies of CMO is the place of healthy leadership development in global mission. Therefore, the ministry has continued to provide training for market place leader to participate in missions actively. The second retreat in Abuja brought together market place leaders from various organizations in Abuja, focusing on the process of ‘Becoming a healthy leader’ CMO believes in the strategic role of developing market lace leaders who will be able to advance mission work on their platforms, and we are greatly encouraged by the transformation that is taking place, first in the lives of these leaders and the mission exploits they are reporting using their platforms.

STAFF TRAINING

Since his training with CMO and return to Niger, God has continued to bless the work of Pastor Gadjo and his family. As a result of his ministry, God is raising new workers as we now have a Christian Fulani couple undergoing training in Mission Bible school. It is our hope and prayer that in the coming year, the couple will return to Niger to continue ministry among their own people. We are also praying for more open doors of support, for this couple and for Gadjo and his family as well.

CHURCH WEANING IN CAMEROON

The weaning of the mission church in Cameroon under Pastor Enoch Luka, is one success story of recent time. The church is growing steadily and fully established in the premise of self governing, self supporting and self propagating. With these developments, Pastor Enoch and his team are breaking new grounds in the new year to other communities in Northern Cameroon. Additionally, we are grateful for open doors and support With the persistent attacks of Boko Haram of our churches in Hidua and Badahal, land has been procured for the development and relocation of the church to new areas.  Church winning, raised over 200 thousand in a new location so the hidua church can relocate.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEWLY WED STAFF!

We rejoice and are thankful to God for the success of the wedding of Pastor Enoch Lisiyas that took place on the 6th of November 2021 at ECWA Church Kentengereng 1, Billiri,  Gombe State. He was serving in the Taraba field, however he is now being relocated to Plateau state where he and his family will be involved in pioneering the work around Nasarawa/Benue axis. It is our prayer that God will raise their family as a strong force for the kingdom.

REPLACEMENT OF STOLEN EQUIPMENT

In November after the Leaders Conference held in Kaltungo Gombe State, Pastor Kilyobas and his family and some CMO members in the area were attacked by armed robbers who carted away mobile phones and other equipment and valuables from their home. We praise God for raising support for these equipment to be replaced. A full report on this would be featured in the next issue of our newsletter. We would like to express great gratitutde to our partners who provided the funds to replace these valuable ministry equipment

CHRISTMAS CAROL AND LOVE FEAST

On Sunday 5th December, we had  a Christmas Carol  which took place in the Kabong mission station in the needy area of Gada Bui on Sunday 5th of December, 2021, commenced at about 2:27pm with 42 persons in attendance. The meeting started with an opening prayer by Pastor. Pius Palm who also took the opening charge. The congregational hymns were taken and the welcome address/introduction was done by Pastor. We would therefore, appreciate and grateful for support for or the adoption of missionaries. Please visit our website to read more about our fields or reach out to us if the Lord lays it in your heart to support our work in this way. Other programs lined up for the year include outreaches in villages and hamlets, church planting, Training seminars, Leadership development retreats, conferences for women and children, establishment of new schools in Plateau and Adamawa state, discipleship trainings, economic empowerment workshops and so much more that the Lord will lead us to.

THEME FOR 2022

‘The Night Cometh…’ John 9:4

In this year’s theme, we are reminded that every open door or opportunity in life, has a life span. The end of all things is near, therefore, we should be alert, clear minded, and self controlled so as to be able to pray, and serve the lord as faithful stewards of Gods grace in its many forms (1 Pet. 4:7-11)
